Pickleball Skill Levels

One of the most common questions players ask is “What’s my Player Rating” or “What Skill Level am I? Ratings typically range from 2.0 (First Timer/Never Played Before) all the way to 8.0 (Best in the world).

Since Pickleball is played by Men & Women across such a wide spectrum of ages — young kids to active Seniors in their 90’s — the chart gives you a baseline understanding of how the rankings work, but it does not offer a definitive answer.

Any Player Rating ultimately depends upon your Age, Sex, Athleticism, Competition, Experience and more. For Example, both a 20 year old Olympic Athlete and an 85 year old Grandmother can be rated a 3.5 — obviously these two aren’t equally talented players — but the Player Rating System gives you an idea of where you stand compared to others.

The Player Rating serves as a starting point — of which you can then adjust up or down due to athleticism, mobility, age, range, skill and more.
